Level 2 Emergency First Aid

As an absolute minimum, following a Risk Assessment, an employer must provide at least one person in their employment with a level of training that would allow an immediate response to an emergency situation. If you have up to 50 employees you should have at least one person trained to the level of ‘EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK’. When selecting who to train, employers must consider the availability, location and flexibility of the individuals concerned paying particular attention to the continuity of the business. It is therefore recommended that several employees are trained to this standard to allow for non-availability due to sickness, leave and work commitments. This level of training is delivered by combination of a theoretical presentation and practical training using simulators, over a period of six hours. Delegates will be given instruction on basic life support to enable them to manage a situation and make an informed decision on an appropriate course of action. Delegates will be issued with a certificate following completion.

Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid for Drivers (CPC)

The AoFAQ Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid for Drivers qualification is a training course which is designed for those who are involved in the driving industry and require a first aid qualification to meet the Certificate of Professional Competency (CPC) first aid requirements in addition to providing the knowledge and skills to operate in these different and often challenging environments.
The teaching time is a minimum of 7 hours and the qualification is valid for 3 years.

Level 3 First Aid at Work

If your business employs more than 50 people, or you simply want to provide an increased level of protection for your staff, you need to provide at least one member of staff who is qualified as a first-aider. Qualification is achieved by attending a FIRST AID AT WORK COURSE, held over three days, concluding in a technical and practical assessment. The course will cover dealing with medical emergencies, incident management, diagnosing and treating fractures, strains and sprains, a basic understanding of the respiratory and circulatory systems including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as well as the important legal requirements of reporting and recording accidents. Delegates who successfully complete the assessment will be awarded certificates.

Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (QCF)

This regulated first aid qualification is specific to infants aged under 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty.

It fulfills the requirements of the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as issued by the department for Education and Skills Foundation Stage relating to Early Years childcare.

This Level 3 qualification is an extended version of the Emergency Paediatric First Aid.

Refresher Training

First aid practices are an evolving and dynamic art form which develops as our knowledge increases. It is also likely staff will not need to practice the more complex matters of first aid on a daily basis. Therefore, personnel are recommended to attend a refresher course every three years to update and re-qualify. EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK refresher courses are of six hours duration and qualified FIRST AID AT WORK refresher courses are of two days including a re-assessment.
